Labradorite is well known for spectacular displays of color that the phenomenon is known as "labradorescence". It transforms from a blue-ish gray to a show of neon illuminations in the light.
Discovered in 1770 on Paul’s Island in Labrador, Canada, Labradorite gained popularity in Europe during the 18th and 19th centuries for ornamental carvings, jewelry, and decorative objects.
